3 Things That Wreck Your Metabolism
There are three things that I believe to be the root causes of metabolic dysfunction or a slow metabolism.
Help for Neurotransmitter Deficiencies
This past few years has been really tough on everyone. With the many things many have been vigilant about and think we have been handling social distancing, wearing masks, and not going outside as much as normal really well, there is still a collective trauma that has taken place.
It is safe to say that our brain has been in a "fear state" for quite some time from constant terrible news in the media, an illusionary divide created on social media platforms that occasionally show up in real life, and also from always seeing people with their faces covered up for over a year now.
Meet your neurotransmitters
Neurotransmitters are your body's chemical messengers that transmit information from one nerve to another. Neurotransmitters can either excite, inhibit or modulate the neuron it is acting upon.
We are going to discuss a few of my favorite neurotransmitters, what they do, and what it might look like if you have a deficiency in one of them.
Gut-Brain Connection
There are three things that I believe to be the root causes of metabolic dysfunction or a slow metabolism.
How To Beat Belly Bloat
So you've been working on your gut health and feeling great, when all of a sudden, *BOOM* it hits you - belly bloat!
I'm no stranger to feeling bloated either, it can be really uncomfortable and frustrating if it happens all the time. While there can be other underlying issues, working on optimal digestion usually helps alleviate most causes of bloating. Here are some ways to help get bloating under control.
3 Levels Of Pause - Ditch Overwhelm
We often think that we need to get more done, that we need to catch up – and THEN we’ll feel less overwhelm. It might feel like if you take a break, if you pause, you’ll end up getting less done.
And that’s actually true!...
But …
Gut-Hormone Connection
Often, when facing any kind of hormonal issues, we go to the doctor, they run a whole slew of tests to see what our hormones look like, and then maybe we get put on hormonal medication - like birth control - or even just told to reduce our stress level.
But what if there was an entire system that influences our hormonal health all day long, everyday?
Well, there is - it's our gut!
That's right! Our gut has a MAJOR influence on our hormones!
Gut-Thyroid Connection
One of the most amazing things about the human body is the connection between all the different systems within the body. I really like to emphasize that everything is connected because often times we are sent to see a specialist who specializes in just one area of the body.
For example, it is really tempting to go see a doctor specializing in thyroid health for suspected thyroid problems. Just remember that they often ONLY look at the thyroid and then prescribe medication or therapies dedicated solely to the thyroid.
An Introduction To Your Microbiome
Whether we like it or not, we are playing host to thousands of species of microorganisms inside our digestive tract. Different species like to live in different areas of your digestive tract, so the bacteria growing in the first part of your small intestine won’t be the same as those living in your colon. These bacteria are collectively referred to as our gut microbiota and are also called probiotics because they have a positive impact on our health.
3 Phases of Stress
Stress is stress is stress.
So many people are trying to get healthy through just nutrition alone. But over time, they begin to lose themselves within the journey of healing and that journey becomes obsessive. That obsession alone will create stress and create so many road blocks to your recovery.

LISTEN TO YOUR BODY
“And I said to my body softly, ‘I want to be your friend.’ It took a long breath and replied, ‘I’ve been waiting my whole life for this.” ~Nayyirah Waheed
